Dear H,

1.
The Matisse's exhibition is fantastic. I have to admit it's not as stunning as Monet's, but it's a pretty complete collection. The one that makes me feel “connected” (you know, sometimes you can feel connections to the artist via a specific work, and when you look at it, you can feel: yes, this is the one!) is The Blue Window. I bought a post card of it, and plan to put it on the wall in my taipei’s bedroom (along with NYC’'s posters, how funny it is gonna be to see NYC and The Blue Window at the same room). I guess I was just too lucky that I can see Matisse before I return Taipei. There's another artist I love but haven’t got a chance to see a more complete exhibition, Henri Rousseau… just wanna see more his collection someday… sigh… anyway, I am planning to go to MET again in August. Just need to feed myself with these works before going home.

And guess what! I bought a CD for you from a really good street artist!!!!!!!!! It was a breezy night and I was walking in the Village. The artist and her band were playing something between Bossa Nova and Jazz, and her voice was so clean, so tender and so…gifted. They even put white candles around their band. The atmosphere was so good. Totally Manhattan summer blissful night. NY got hundreds of independent street artists selling their CDs, and she is the best so far I’ve heard. And the first time I had a strong feeling that: God, I HAVE TO buy her CD! So I bought two. The songs in the CD are not the best I heard from her, but you can feel the real human voice instead of too-perfectly mechanic recording.

This was supposed to be a surprise gift, but I can't wait to tell you about the CD. I think I love NYC, in part because of all of the cultural pulse that you can feel in the city. Feel the arts everywhere in the city. (of course, and the urine smell at the same time, =.= )

This is a CD that goes well with a candle light dinner, or while reading a book.  :-)

Another lucky thing. There's an open air movie screening in Brooklyn on Thursday nights every summer (http://www.brooklynbridgepark.org/go/programs-/-events/movies-with-a-view ). This year is the 11th year they hold the event. It's quite famous here among local people. After our bar exam on Wed, we decided to go to this screening. And it was playing Hitchcock’s Rear Window!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so blessed…. I admit I slept in the middle, but it was not because of the movie. It's because of the breeze and the post-bar-exam fatigue, but I felt so blessed that I could spend my time on these things. Attached are two photos I took on that night.

Okay, enough nagging about my post-exam life, I will talk to you soon.

Ps. I LOVE NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am kinda afraid that i am going back to Asia soon. I don't know whether I can fit in the city again, fit in Asian society. Mom said I could, maybe in 3 months. I hope so... I had a nightmare about my new life in Taipei, sigh.

I am too used to my life here, cheek kissing friends and bear-hugs, beer and bars, and speaking English and wearing casual. I am afraid i will chat with people on MRT, and smile like an idiot.

I know I love my sweet home and my lovely country. It's just NYC is my second home full of memories. I hate myself like that. :(

My NYU girl friends and I are flying to west coast for two weeks. This is what we have planned since fall semester... hope we have a great time there, and keep the forever friendship!
